1. Apologies received from Ron Kidson, Mike Pitchford, Cllr David Beechey (ex-officio representing Donington-with-Boscobel PC) and Cllr David Slatcher (ex-officio member from Boningale PC).

2. Minutes of Meeting of 2nd August 2021 were approved

3. Treasurer’s Report.– MP on holiday

4. To consider progress in regard to following main issues

a) Progress with Website update. ACTION: GR asked ALL members to send photos of ADCS in action to GR to be put on the site. RS to update the Cross Road Traffic Group page

b) Field Development (behind the south end of Shaw Lane). No more news

c) PW had written to Ian Kilby (Head of SC Planners( with a request for the Society to be a consultee and to receive applications for all four parishes. Ian agreed but he has now left SC so PW is following up with other SC staff.

5. Matters arising

a) Tree root damage outside the Estate Agents. PW still chasing up Graham Downs (SC Highways) but no response yet

b) State of village roads. - especially pot holes in High St, the depression in Station Rd and the very bad surface in Cross Road

ACTION: PW wrote to Steve Smith (SC) to request he visits the village to inspect the roads with us

c) Possible Street Market. RR had put in a lot of effort to see if Traders would be interested in this project and to run a market which was hoped would bring more trade into the village. He sent an email to about the 15 traders who seemed most interested but he had only one email reply to his invitation to a meeting to discuss the matter. The conclusion was that without a good response from local traders the market project could not proceed.

.

d) The Crown Pub – RS noted that the repair to the crashed damaged front wall was well done and the brick detailing with very nice lintels was a credit to the brewery. However this is let down by the poor colour match of bricks and mortar and it is disappointing that the SC Conservation Dept did not help with this. A quick look on line shows many companies offer a brick and mortar tinting service and  it seems that for about 15 to 20 sq.m the cost would be about £1k and takes about a day. The area at the Crown would be approx 30 sq.m. An email has been sent to the brewery and their immediate reply was positive so we await further from them when they have considered the matter.

e) AGM and Public Meeting 11th October 2021. A discussion on possible items and speakers which need to be topical and of key interest to residents so that we attract a large audience

Initial idea is to have “Flooding” as the main topic and Pete Collins, AFLAG, said he would be willing to speak and would see if another speaker from one of the agencies would also speak. Possible second speaker from the Air Ambulance Service which will move to Cosford soon and then it may be useful if our new Shropshire Councillor Nigel Lumby could come to introduce himself. ACTION: PW to speak to Pete Collins, RS to speak to Air Ambulance and Nigel Lumby.

6. AOB.

a) Albrighton Fayre. RS had received an email from Robert Parry who had met with Steph French and Mel Jones to discuss the possibility of organising a Fayre next year. He had sent emails to all previous members of the Fayre Committee – RS was the representative for Albrighton PC. He wanted to know if the Civic Society was interested. A meeting is set up for 23 Sept to assess interest. RS will attend on behalf of the Society to find out more..

Next  meeting:  2pm. Mon 4th October  2021. It is currently planned to meet in the Harp Pub Garden but this may be changed to 31/32 High St depending on the Covid rules at that point

Following Meeting will be at 2pm on Monday 1st November 2021
